Moonlight in my window
Clouds are drifting by
Starlight kisses Jack Frost
In a winter lullaby
All the Earth is sleeping
Soon to wake to light
Spring will follow winter
As day will follow night
CHORUS:
Snow is cold upon the ground
But warmth is in my heart
Love is opening my soul
And hope has a fresh start.
Mother Earth is old now.
Mother Earth is new
She holds the answer
And we hold it too.
All of life is sacred
All of life belongs
In the web that's woven
In Heaven's endless songs.
CHORUS
Time to go to bed now
Time to end this song
Time to ask the angels
To Help us all along.
Help us love each other
Help us love ourselves
Help us love this planet
And all who on Her dwell.

Amazing Grace
New words ©1993 Evylene B. Barton
Amazing Grace is in my heart
Is in my soul and mind
It's Grace that helps me be here now
And leave the past behind.
Amazing Grace comes to me now
It's gentle love I feel
It frees me of old fears, old doubts,
It shows me what is real.
What's real are the things that bring you joy,
The things that bring you delight.
Have Faith that they are your path, your way,
And following them is right.
Amazing Grace speaks to me now
It says be what you are,
No one can live your life for you,
No one should go that far.
Amazing Grace is in my heart,
Is in my soul and mind,
It's Grace that helps me be here now,
And leave the past behind.

AWAKENING
Music and words ©2010 Evylene B. Barton
You were afraid of drowning
In the pain and fears of the past,
So you kept paddling harder,
Never at rest,
Never at rest.
Soon life became just a struggle
Between you and what you feared
Dreams you had, you forgot them,
What really mattered disappeared,
What really mattered disappeared.
Until one day you woke up
And discovered something new:
You don't have to make the fears go away,
They can travel along with you.
So welcome to a new world
Where life is real and it's full
Pain and joy can both be there
Fulfillment can, too,
Fulfillment can, too.
Now the battle is over,
And it seems that both sides have won.
Both are moving together,
Dancing as one,
Because one day you woke up
And discovered something new:
You don't have to make the fears go away,
They can travel along with you.
They are travelling along with you.

Baby Bird
Words and music ©2000 by Evelyne B. Barton
Once upon a time there was a Baby Bird
And Baby Bird loved to sing
But once upon a time there was a Mama Bird
And Mama bird feared everything
When her baby sang, Mama thought she heard a cat
She told her baby bird, "don't do that, don't sing"
When her baby sang, Mama thought she heard a cat
She told her baby bird, "don't do that, don't sing"
She told her Baby Bird, (pause) "SHhhh, don't do that."
When the baby grew, it wanted to fly
It wanted to soar through the air
But Mama Bird was scared that her baby might fall
So Mama Bird said, " Baby, don't go there."
"It isn't safe to try, It isn't safe to fly
It isn't safe to go out there, out there
It isn't safe to try, it isn't safe to fly
It isn't safe to go out there, out there,
You'd better stay out of the air."
Baby Bird grew bigger & the nest it was too small
Mama Bird grew feeble and weak
Baby Bird knew it was time to go
Still Mama Bird, she did speak
"It isn't safe to try, It isn't safe to fly
It isn't safe to go out there, out there
It isn't safe to try, it isn't safe to fly
It isn't safe to go out there, out there,
You'd better stay out of the air."
Mama Bird she died, Baby Bird she cried
Baby Bird grew lonely and cold
One day she spread her wings,
she finally learned to sing
She finally broke out of the mold.
"I think it's safe to try, I think it' s safe to fly
I think it' s safe to go out there, out there
I know it's safe to try, I know it's safe to fly
I know it's safe to go out there, out there,
I'm soaring thru the sky,
I'm singing as I fly
I'm singing as I spread these wings of mine
I'm glad I'm finally …here."

BE MY DAUGHTER
©1980 Evelyne B. Barton
Learning to live without the doubts and fears you taught me,
Hanging me up, between woman and child.
Now it is time to use the wings I was born with
Spreading them now, to fly away.
Mother I wish I could share
Who I really am with you,
But you always say, "No, be my daughter."
Eight years ago a man came and took me
Out of the shelter of your life and home
Since then I've come to know wisdom
But at the cost of the lies I held dear.
Mother I wish I could share
Who I really am with you
But you always say, "No, be my daughter."
Maybe there'll come a time when you'll stop being bitter,
Letting yourself see who I really am.
Not a baby doll, not a daughter,
But a woman like you, to live and die
.Mother I wish I could share
Who I really am with you
But you always say, "No, be my daughter.
No, no, no."

Child
Words and music ©1985 by Evelyne B. Barton
Mother came to visit
She brought a loaf of bread
She turned around and touched my hand
And this is what she said:
"Child, Child, the sorrow's gone away
I'm letting go of darkness,
Of dreams from yesterday,
Child, Child, I know it's hard to take,
But much of what I taught you,
I see was a mistake.
Child…………………..
"I sat down in my kitchen
My heart was beating fast
What is this apparition come
To speak to me at last?
"Child, Child, it's not a ghost you see.
I'm just an aging woman
Determined to be free
Child, Child, I never meant to say
You had to live your life for me
In each and every way
Child……………………….."

Chip, Chip, Chip Away
Words and Music ©1990 Evelyne B. Barton
Chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away
At the rock of fear
Chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away,
Every day every year
Chip, chip, chip, chip chip away
I don't want this fear to stay
Chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away
I'm going to make it through someday
So I chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away
Chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away
Some people hide it all
Hide it all, hide it all
Until one day they trip
Take a tumble and fall
They hit hard on the ground
And roll, roll, roll around
And curl into a ball
And put up a great big wall
And they roll, roll, roll
Roll around the ground
Watch them roll, roll, roll
Roll around the ground.
I used to be like that
Be like that, be like that
And I didn't know
I was like that
'Til one day I fell down
And hit hard on the ground
And curled into a ball
And put up a great big wall
And I roll, roll, roll, roll,
Rolled upon the ground
Oh, I roll, roll, roll, rolled around
And it took me a long, long time
To uncurl, to unwind
So I kept on rolling more
Til I rolled into a door
And I couldn't roll, roll, roll, roll
Roll around,
Just lay upon the ground.
Then a great big bird flew down
Flew down, flew down,
And it wore diamonds in
Its feathered crown
And it whispered please get up
And I hollered, "But I'm stuck,"
Then it said, "Well, you're not dead,"
Then it kicked me in the head
And I got up, got up,
Stood upon the ground
As I stood I looked,
I looked around.
I saw curled up, frightened balls
Everywhere, everywhere
Some rolled, some bounced, some blinked
Some stared some glared
I said,"Hey, you're like me,"
They said,"That just can't be,"
So I held the mirror up
One by one they all stood up
And we joined hands and danced
And danced around We joined hands and danced
And danced around.
Chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away
At the rock of fear
Chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away,
Don't mind the tears
When you're most afraid
That's when you've got it made
For we are all the same
And we need you in this game
So chip, chip, chip, chip, chip away
At the rock of fear
Chip, chip, chip, chip, chip, away
Don't mind the tears
Join hands and dance and dance,
And dance around
Join hands and dance and dance,
And dance around.
Join hands and dance and dance,
And dance around.

Find The Light
Words and music ©1994 by Evelyne B. Barton
Take a walk in the night
Beneath the starlight
And feel the earth nurture
Your feet as you go.
Take a walk in the sun
And know we are one
All creatures together
Are one and the same.
CHORUS:
Find the Light in your heart
Find the Light in your soul
Find the Light in each other
Let that Light grow.
Promene toi dans la nuit
Dans la foret noire
Et sens que la terre
Caresse ton esprit.
Promene toi au soleil
Et tu verras que
Nous sommes ensemble
Et nous sommes pareil.
CHORUS:
Cherche la flamme dans ton ame
Cherche la flamme dans ton couer
Cherche la flamme en tous lieux
Dans tes yeux.
Take a walk with me now
As I show you how
We are what we are
Be it flower or star.
Take a walk in the Light
And know it's all right
To find that your shadow is
Part of you, too.
Chorus (in English)
Promene toi avec moi
Le monde est nouveau
Tu es comme le ciel
Et je suis une oiseau.
Promene toi dans le jour
Je vais te montrer
Ton hombre et tu
Sont ensemble toujours.

Heaven (Song for Tony)
Words and music©2009 by Evylene B. Barton
This is my song for you, my dear
This is my song for you, simple and clear
May you find happiness, may you find peace
May God take care of you, endlessly.
May he bring comfort to
All those who mourn.
Life is eternal,
From death we are born.
Heaven, heaven,
Heaven is your home above.
Heaven is where we send love to you
Forever
Rain is falling from saddened skies
Thunder echoes with mournful cries
Into the darkness as night comes along
Nature is singing you her farewell song.
Morning brings comfort as light fills the sky
Birds whisper dreams to us as they fly.
Whisper your name to us, whisper and say,
You're never far from us, not far away.
Heaven, heaven,
Heaven is your home above.
Heaven is where we send love to you
Forever

I CHOOSE
©2004 Eveyne B. Barton
I choose to live this day letting go of fear.
I choose to live this day knowing that I'm here.
Knowing that the past is over and it's gone
Time to let it go, time to move on.
I choose to live this day one moment at a time.
I choose to live this day inviting Love Divine
To heal this wounded heart, to heal this wounded soul
To heal me in all ways, once more make me whole.
I choose to live this day following the Lord
I choose to live this day knowing that his Sword
Of Holy Light will clear a sacred path for me
To lead me through this life, to my destiny
I choose to live this day blessing what I cursed
Knowing that I've come already through the worst.
Knowing that my burdens only made me strong
And taught me how to sing this sacred, holy song.

I Want To Be With You
©1990 Evelyene B. Barton
Hawaii, vacation, my father lies dying,
Hawaii, vacation, my father lies dead.
Momma, I want to be with him, but you're so far away
Momma, I want to be with him, I know his life's fading away.
Hawaii, nightmare, my sister and mother
Are crying beside him and I'm not there
Momma, I want to be with him, but you're all so far away,
Momma, I want to be with to be with him, I know his life's faded
away.
LA, alone now, I drive up the coast
I see an old friend, and I talk to ghosts
Momma, I want to be with him, but you're all so far away
Momma, I need to be with him, but I know he's gone away.
LA, together, you fly back home
We hold each other, we cry, we moan,
Momma, I want to be with him, but now he's so far away
Momma, I want to be with him, why did he go away.
Ojai, oh my, he's here, yet he's gone.
We argue, we sigh, we know what's wrong.
Momma, I want to be with him, but now he's so far away
Momma, I want to be with him, why did he go away.
LA, alone now, I pack up my things
I fly back home, and I try to sing.
Momma, I want to be with you, but you're so far away,
Momma. I need to be with you, 'cause Daddie's been taken away.
South Bend, Indiana, it rains too much
It feels unreal now, where is Death's touch?
Momma, I want to be with you, but you're so far away,
Momma. I need to be with you, 'cause Daddie's been taken away.
Tomorrow his ashes go out to sea,
Tomorrow it's over and he'll be free
Momma, I want to be with you, but you're so far away,
Why can't I be there beside you as you let him go away?
Hawaii, heaven, my Daddie is gone,
Hawaii, memory, oh Daddie, so long
Momma I want to be with you but you're so far away,
Momma I send my love to you, and I know that it will stay

I'm Ready
Words and Music ©2002 by Evelyne B. Barton
When will it be time for my voice to soar
Above the pain I feel?
When will it be my turn to dance with joy
And make peace with this fear?
I'm ready for happiness
I'm ready for love
I'm ready to transcend this mess
And be myself and much, much
Be myself and much, much
Be myself and much, much more.
Now is the time for me to find my wings
And leave the past behind
Now is the time for me to pirouette
Upon my dreams sublime
I'm ready for happiness
I'm ready for love
I'm ready to transcend this mess
And be myself and much, much
Be myself and much, much
Be myself and much, much more…
Oooo_______I'm not too old
Oooo_______My dreams to hold
Oooo_______It's not too late
Oooo_______To seize my fate
And I do, I do, I do, I do.
I do, I do, I do, I do.
I've earned my wings and I am flying fast
Beyond the world I knew
I'm dancing to the song called "YES, I CAN!"
I'm here and life's brand new.
I'm twirling with happiness
I'm waltzing with love
I've feeling so fully blessed
Knowing who I am
And liking who I am
And being who I am once more!!!
Oooo_______I'm not too old
Oooo_______My dreams to hold
Oooo_______It's not too late
Oooo_______To seize my fate
And I do, I do, I do, I do.
I do, I do, I do, I do.

The Ballad of Stuart Little
Words and music ©2001 by Evelyne B. Barton
Stuart Little crept into my house
But I have cats, it's not safe for a mouse
Big gray kittie with white on his paws
Caught Stuart Little in his jaws
When I found him I thought he was dead
I placed Stuart on my bed
Gave him water with Bach drops too
Chanted over this rodent miniscule.
Stuart Little began to move
I suggested he take a snooze
Put him in a darkened room
He was snoring pretty soon.
Drove to PetsMart break of day
Bought a cage with hard-earned pay
Put him in it with some food
The cats thought that was really rude.
Now Stuart Little lives with me
And several cats who'd like to be
Alone with Stuart when I'm not there
But that won't happen
Fair is Fair.!!!

King of Song
©2005 Evelyne B. Barton
You gave joy to
All those lucky to know you
You made us laugh
You lived what really mattered
You will never die
Not as long as we can sing
You will always be
Shining in our memory.
King of Song
King of Song
Carry on,
Carry on!!!
Now I vow to honor
What you have given
I vow to love, to laugh
Freely and often.
You will never die
Not as long as we can sing
You will always be
Shining in our memory.
King of Song
King of Song
Carry on,
Carry on!!!
You sang so strong,
You live on in our songs
You sang so strong
You live on in our songs
On in our songs
On in our songs
On in our songs.

Let the Spirits Come
Words and Music ©2010 by Evelyne B. Barton
Now it's late in the evening
And it's late in your life,
Soon you will be crossing over,
To where there is no pain or strife.
Let the Spirits come,
To guide you towards the Light,
To help you understand
It's safe to go.
Let them Take your hands,
And gently lead you home,
There's nothing for you here,
It's over.
Mutti (Mother), I will miss you,
But memories will stay with me,
I can't imagine life without you,
And yet I want you to be free.
So Let the Spirits come,
To guide you towards the Light,
To Help you understand
It's safe to go.
Let them take your hands,
And gently lead you home,
There's nothing for you here,
It's over.
I will carry on without you.
I will continue with my life.
Until it's time to crossover,
To where there is no pain or strife.
I"ll let the Spirits come,
To guide me towards the Light,
To help me understand
It's safe to go.
I"ll let them take my hands,
And gently lead me home,
When there's nothing here for me, and
It's over.

Little Black Dog
©2010 Evelyne B. Barton
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
Do you know how you changed my life?
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
Do you know what you've done?
I used to stay inside my house and
Never take a walk,
I used to keep all to myself and
Never stop to talk.
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
Do you know what happened?
You and Aunt Beth lived on a farm
Until she had a stroke.
The neighbors said "Let's put you to sleep"
And I said, "Let's not.
Just give me a week to
Find him a home,
My own."
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
Two months, you were alone,
You didn't know where Aunt Beth went
You knew no one was home.
Until I came to bring you here
For just a week or two
That week turned into a year
That year became two.
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
Do you know what happened?
You took me for a walk one day
And I just kept on walking.
The kids all stopped to play with you
Grownups said,"Hello."
My daily walks brought me new friends,
My new friends brought me more.
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
Did I ever tell you,
I didn't know your specialness
When I first came for you
But now I know your soul is great
And your expectations small.
You wear a smile in your eyes
That says it all.
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
Wouldn't life be simpler
If all people were like you,
Content and open?
All you want is love,
And a nice walk now and then,
You take each moment as it comes,
And you let it go again.
Little black dog sitting on my bed,
This song is for you.
You gave me more than I can say,
You gave me love that's true.
All I know is music,
So this I give to you,
A song to sing forever,
That says "I love you, too."

Lost Brother of Mine
Words and Music ©2003 by Evelyne B. Barton
If I could fly,
I'd fly back to you
Over the ocean
I'd fly back to you.
Brother, brother
Lost Brother of mine
I miss you, I love you
Lost brother of mine.
You run to me
Crying good-bye
But you never reach me
Though you really try
You cry, I sigh
I wish for your touch
It's stolen, broken,
I miss you so much.
Ripped away
Ah, ha, ha,
Want to stay
Ah, ha, ha,
Where'd you go
Ah, ha, ha,
I want to know.
In dreams I see you
I kiss your sweet face
I reach my arms to you
We weep, we embrace
Brother, brother
Lost brother of mine
Together, together
In other times.
Not ripped away
Ah, ha, ha,
Get to stay
Ah, ha, ha
I'm with you
Ah, ha, ha,
You.
If I could fly
I'd fly to you
Over the ocean
I'd fly back to you.

Love Doesn't Leave
Words and music ©2005 by Evelyne B. Barton
Love doesn't leave, it just changes names.
When someone leaves you, love still remains.
Open your eyes, open you heart
Open the door to love's fresh new start
Chorus:
Take a walk by the lakeshore
See the sparkling sands
Dip your feet in the water
Hold a rock in your hands.
Love made them all, love made them right
Love in its wisdom guides you by its light.
Stand when you fall, laugh when you cry,
Pick yourself up and tell the past good-bye.
Chorus
Time changed them all and time will change you
Time can bring comfort and joys anew
The choice is yours of how to be
Like the rock or the flowing sea.
Chorus
Love made them all, love made you, too.
Love makes all perfect, love makes all true.
So follow your heart, follow the light
Follow love's calling, and all will be right.
Repeat last verse, then end with Coda:
Follow love's calling, and all will be right
Follow love's calling, and all will be, all will be,
All will be right.

Music is a Language
©1993 Evelyne B. Barton
Music is a language that you know so well
Disillusion covers it, you say,"Oh hell,"
You forget to sing and then you die inside
You are more than music don't hide.
Put away the books and all the should's and don't's
Take the time to wander through your will's and won't's
What you want's important, don't forget that now,
Dig it up and find it somehow.
Dig through all the ruins of the dreams that died
Dig through all the pain inside
Find the seed of joy and bring it to the light,
Let it grow let it fight.
Let it fight for life and let it fight for you.
Let it fight for truth and let it help you to
Free yourself of things you don't need anymore.
Free to be yourself once more.
Free of things that kept you from the songs
That you wanted to sing for oh, so long,
Free to find yourself a melody
Free to sing it perfectly.

She Told Me
Words and music ©1994 by Evelyne B. Barton
"There's a crack house, in the middle of our block"
She told me "They're dealing just to get by"
She told me "I'm looking for a new place to live"
She told me "The lady upstairs is crazy"
She told me
And I stared at the moon
Too much, too late, too soon.
"Just last week, they stopped a car"
She told me "Pulled the driver out, beat him up and robbed him"
She told me
Pointed a gun at her
She told me
Said she'd be next
She told me
And I stared at the moon
Too much, too late, too soon.
"My neighbors fight late at night"
I told her "Beat their baby, yell at her to shut-up"
I told her "Moved here from the homeless shelter last March"
I told her "Getting by on food-stamps and MTV"
I told her
And she stared at the moon.
Too much, too late, too soon.
"I've lived here for 16 years"
I told her "Planted flowers, tried to make it nice"
I told her "But now there's broken glass in my flowerbeds"
I told her "And litter in my yard everytime I turn around"
I told her
And she stared at the moon
Too much, too late, too soon.
"This is crazy, this is no way to live"
I told her
"We're living in a jungle of walls"
I told her "I know, but I don't know how we'll change it"
She told me "One day at a time, one heart at a time"
I told her
And we stared at the moon
It said, "It's not too soon,
For changes, good changes,
For changes for you all."

Snowdrops
Words and music ©1991 by Evelyne B. Barton
Snowdrops in the morning
Snowdrops here today
More snow is falling
But the snowdrops are on their way
Springtime is a'comin'.
Spring will soon be here,
Spring will bring us treasures and
Pleasures for the year.
Oh, snowdrops are green and white
They're gentle as the rain
They lift their heads to tell us
That life is here again
Snowdrops in my garden
They sing a happy song
They tell me that winter
Won't be here for too long
They tell me that laughter
And joy on their way
They tell me the winter
In my heart will go away
Oh, I will learn to sing again
I will learn to dance I will cherish snowdrops A That gave me a second chance G
I will cherish snowdrops
I will cherish life
I will cherish Winter
That served as Spring's midwife
Oooooo.

What Would Happen?
Words and music ©2011 by Evelyne B. Barton
It's all okay you know,
These feelings you feel,
Pain, anger, shame and fear,
You try to make them disappear.
What would happen if you called them friends,
What would happen if you gave them love, W
hat would happen if you let them show,
That they're allies, not your foe?
What would happen?
What would happen?
What would happen,
Then?
Imagine if you can
The world within
Is just the world without
Reflected in.
Imagine what will be
When you do this:
Give everything your Love,
Wish it only Bliss.
What would happen if you chose to be
Only love and light
What would happen if you led the way
For others to find light?
What would happen?
What would happen?
What would happen,
Then?
It boils down to this
To the choices you make.
Be willing to forgive
And make mistakes.
There are no guarantees
Except for one.
Choose to believe in Love,
And help will always come.
What would happen if you chose a path
Of only Love and Light?
Well, I think you know the answer to that;
Things will be all right.
Make it happen,
Make it happen,
Make it happen,
Now.

When There's Fear
Words and music ©1985 by Evelyne B. Barton
When there's fear you can't see clearly
Nothing is easy no matter what you do
And you don't know how it started
Life was quite simple when life was still new.
Now, the stars remind you even they grow old.
How to battle time when life and friends are cold?
When there's joy, your heart is singing
All by itself you don't even have to try
And the rainbows circle 'round you
They get wet to keep you dry.
Now the skies remind you, even darkness glows
In a world like this where pain and love run close.
When there's pain do try and listen
And hear exactly what it's wanting to say
It's the heart that hears itself
That can heal itself in a natural way.
Life is full of goodness even when we're blind
Time can bring us peace, it's always there to find.

Church of Loretto
Words and music ©1991 by Evelyne B. Barton
Church of Loretto,
Silent as the night
Church of Loretto
What is this nightmare, this fright?
I hear they want to tear you down
Make you something new
What is this devastation
That they want to do?
Church of Loretto,
For many winters now
You've braved the ice and snowfalls,
You've always stayed unbowed
But now they want to tear you up
Take away your charm
They call it renovation
I call it harm.
Church of Loretto,
Peaceful as the dew
Church of Loretto
Do you know what they want to do?
Take off the doors
Cover the floors
Take out the colored light
Cover the altar and the choir's nest
And paint it white.
Church of Loretto
What would you tell them now
If you could speak up for yourself
What would you tell them now?
Would you ask for grace
Would you ask them to let you be
Would you ask them to keep things in place
Would you ask for dignity?
Church of Loretto
This is our prayer for you
Now it's up to others
Who knows what they will do,
Tear you up, cover you up
Call you brand new,
Or look beyond the trends and fads
And see the beauty in you?
Church of Loretto
Patiently you stand
What will be the verdict
What will be the command?
We don't know where you will go
Where they will take you now
We have tried and we have sighed
And now we let you go.

Meow, Meow, Me Too
Words and music ©1994 by Evielyne B. Barton
Wish sometimes you'd talk to me like you talk to the cat
Wish sometimes you'd hold me, like you hold the cat
Think I'll grow some whiskers, a nice long tail and fur
Chase the birds and micies and even learn to purr.
Wish sometimes you'd hold me like you hold a book
Wish sometimes you'd read me, like you read a book
Think I'll find a cover and inside it I'll hide
When you come to read me, oh boy, I'll be inside
Wish sometimes you'd play with me like you play with guitar
Wish sometimes you'd sing with me like you sing with guitar
Think I'll get some strings and even stretch my neck
Grow a great big belly as you touch all my frets
Wish sometimes you'd watch me like you watch the TV
Wish sometimes you'd turn me on like you turn on TV
Think I'll find a station that's tuned right to my soul
Then I'll wait for you to find me with remote control
Wish sometimes you'd talk to me like you talk to the cat
Wish sometimes you'd hold me like you hold the cat
Think I'll grow some whiskers, a nice long tail and fur
Chase the birds and micies and even learn to purr
Meow, meow, me too.

Carnations
Words and music ©1994 by Evelyne B. Barton
Carnations on my table,
Pink candle, picture, too
Carnations with the baby's breath,
Ferns and lace and you.
Chorus:
Happiness is coming,
Oh, Happiness is here,
Old pain is leaving,
And I am finding life
Once more.
Creeping Charlie in our kitchen
Grows strong and grows green
An angel in a birdcage
Reminds me of a dream.
Happiness is coming,
Oh, Happiness is here,
Old pain is leaving,
And I am living life
Once more.
Six cats and a rabbit
And a great big white dog, too
Creatures of magic,
Bringers of joy, too.
Happiness is coming,
Oh, Happiness is here,
Old pain is leaving,
And I am loving life
Once more.
Most of all is my music
The words and melody,
They heal me and they bring me
Exactly where I need to be.
Happiness is coming,
Oh, Happiness is here,
Old pain is leaving,
And I am finding life
I am living life
I am loving life
Once more.

Johanna's Lament
Words and Music ©2005 by Evelyne B. Barton
Ancient eyes in the mirror
Can't be mine, I don't think
Ancient eyes, where'd they come from,
My life's gone by in a blink.
Used to be I was beautiful,
I was funny, I was smart,
I was married to my true love,
Until death did us part.
Now my hands they betray me,
And my eyes, they won't see,
My feet, they won't carry
This weight known as "me."
Lord, Lord, won't you take me home
I've lived too long it seems
Lord, Lord won't you take me home,
Quietly in my dreams.
Now I'm trapped in a body
That I've come to despise,
My children say that they need me,
Oh, Hell, that's just lies.
Used to be I took care of them
Planted flowers red and blue
Baked lots of apple pies,
And chocolate cookies, too
Now I pray to my Maker,
To please unmake me,
Give me peace, give me comfort,
Give me true dignity
Lord, Lord, won't you take me home
I've lived too long it seems
Lord, Lord won't you take me home,
Quietly in my dreams.
